S.U.P.A. Program
S.U.P.A (Self-worth and Uniqueness Promotes Abstinence) is a preventive program that promotes positive female development as a means of reducing the potential for teenage pregnancy. The participants learn life skills through interesting educational activities, interactive workshops with special guest speakers and participate in community service activities. The program run from October thru June and meets bi-weekly in local schools throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties; as well as every second Saturday at Foster Park. Our activities are geared to increase the knowledge, skills, opportunities and behaviors necessary for girls to make positive life choices, heighten their self-esteem, and increase knowledge of high risk behaviors. The program encourages young girls that their reflection in the mirror is one of beauty, poise and acceptances. Our program’s goal is to provide the tools, resources and support girls need to be successful. After completing the S.U.P.A program, the participant’s attendance, academics, and conduct will improve as well as their overall outlook towards transitioning from tweens to teens. The participants are selected by teachers, school counselors, and administrators who may identify a challenge or a need in the girls and feels that she would benefit from the program. Also, parents will make requests on behalf of their daughters. M.E.R.I.T Program( Motivating Entrepreneur Readiness In Teens) is an additional component of the S.U.P.A. program that is designed to prepare teen (Boys and Girls) ages 14-18, to build career plans and to prepare for school completion, post-secondary training and productive work through financial literacy training, entrepreneurship training, computer literacy and shadowing. Teenagers participating in the M.E.R.I.T program are more likely to see school as relevant, complete high school and post-secondary credentials, and transition to employment that launches careers.
